Cloning: the most practical feature for recurring projects
What do you usually do when you need to create a few similar projects? I discussed this with some people, and it turns out that not all of them knew about our cloning feature. So I thought I should take this opportunity to remind our users about this option.
First off, cloning projects is a handy feature for those of us who have repeatable projects.
Let’s say you need to create a copy of a whole project where the same team members are assigned to the same tasks that take approximately the same amount of time to complete. This can be time-consuming unless you clone the project. Once you clone the project, you get a project template with rough deadlines.
You can assign the same team members to corresponding tasks in your new, cloned project. Simply check the ‘Assign the same team members’ box on your cloned tasks.
You can set a project’s start date at the beginning of the Project Plan. New start date and task deadlines will be set relative to the start date for the original project.
